In my junior year at Georgia State University, Facebook was introduced as a tool for college classroom communication. The first course I used it for was my mock congress class. It was a game-changer, and from that moment, I knew this platform had the potential to be massive. Like many other college students in 2004, I had experience with MySpace, but its interface was far from ideal. Facebook set the stage for what would become the social media landscape we know today.

Facebook’s focus on existing relationships with people you know, like, and trust made it the perfect platform for promoting businesses. By 2006, when Facebook opened to the public, I was graduating with my bachelor’s degree. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to handle social media marketing for every company I’ve worked with, along with managing print advertising, radio campaigns, and promotional product marketing.
